Known for its near-perfect climate, San Diego provides the ideal setting for swimmers to improve their stroke technique this summer and have some serious fun! Campers train daily at the Aztec Aquaplex, home of the San Diego State Swimming and Diving Team.

The focus and design of the curriculum at Aztec Swim Camps at San Diego State University is to provide competitive swimmers an exciting week of camp where they are challenged to improve their stroke technique through mental, technical, and physical training. Each Camper receives personalized stroke instruction from the Aztec Coaching Staff as well as a video analysis of all four strokes. Guest lectures addressing motivation, nutrition, and goal-setting will also be covered.

Associate Head Coach/Camp Director - Joe Spahn

Entering his sixth year at San Diego State, Joe Spahn was promoted to associate head coach in August 2022.

Since his arrival on The Mesa, Spahn has helped the Scarlet and Black earn 201 all-Mountain West honors over the past four years, including Alex Roberts, who garnered conference Swimmer of the Year accolades for the second straight season in 2024. Along with teammate Christiana Williams, Roberts also punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row.
